It takes a village to create Bima Trade Furniture. Actually it takes several. To get the best products possible, Bima Trade orders items from several villages throughout Indonesia, each specializing in a different type of furniture, such at tables, chairs, benches, etc. Once a piece is completed, it’s sent to a central workshop for finishing touches. Every item is made from high-quality mahogany wood, often from fallen trees. The actual creation of a piece is quite labor intensive. Typically it will take 4 weeks for the wood to kiln dry. Then an additional 4 weeks to finish a piece since all of the work is completed by hand using techniques that have been handed down from generation to generation with the use of only very basic tools. Bima Trade is Fair Trade Certified, and one of few companies in Indonesia to use Indonesian Legal Wood, which means that they meet the highest standards for safety, and pollution control. On top of that, Bima Trade also provides all of their makers with a fair wage and medical care.
Please note: Because this item is made with love and care by a skilled maker and not a machine, some small variations may occur between your item and what is pictured.
