The artisans who make the olive wood products are located in the beautiful industrial city of Sfax Tunisia. They work in a traditional style olive wood workshop that is relatively large in size, as it has been used to manufacture olive wood for generations. The olive wood they produce brings a rustic aura to any household. They use the same manufacturing process that has been used for generations. They gather olive wood from trees that no longer produce olives, and they then let the wood dry for an entire year. After the wood has dried the wood is brought to a team of 6 artisans who cut the wood into the desired shapes and sizes needed to craft each olive wood product. The wood is ecofriendly, because it only uses trees at the end of their life cycle, and the process of crafting the wood is completely economical and animal free. The artisans are inspired by their previous generations who have practiced this craft for over hundreds of years. It can be difficult for the artisans to work in this industry because of the immense amount of pre-planning that goes into gathering the olive wood, it takes and entire year to dry and this can be the largest obstacle for them to overcome. However, this industry benefits many families in Tunisia, especially during tougher economic times, the production of olive wood effects many families from the artists who design the products, to the artisans who craft them and even olive wood farmers who are the source of the wood. The olive wood artisans of Tunisia take immense pride in continuing the family tradition of wood craft that has been in their bloodline for generations.
